Use case description

Several scenarios have to be studied here:

  • C2B: the relation beyween an HR service (jobboard) where the CV owner could post his CV (possibility to use both OpenID or ID-FF / SAML for the SSO part). Supporting OpenID could give more openess to new user from the point of view of the jobboard before to go to a Liberty circle of trust to share user CV attributes with other business partners (see next point).
  • B2B / B2C : sharing of CV owner data from several HR related services, this need to take into account CV owner privacy setting (probably better to use a well define Circle of Trust based on ID-WSF, in this case if the CV Owner have used OpenID to logon/create its account, the jobboard must bring him the possibility to move to an LA account)
  • C2C: Professional social networking, possibility to use both OpenID, LA ID-WSF People Service, Google OpenSocials. OpenID is more open to other web2 services but give less trust to the user (no pre-define CoT but a CoT is may be too close for Social Networking needs), possibilities related to OpenSocials should be studied also as well as microformat usage (for example in LinkedIn).

It could be probably more simple to reduce the scenarios to two main scenarios:

  • People: OpenID (v2 with or without a specific HR schema, like a micro-format hresume based or HR-XML ), OpenSocial
  • Organisations (business): Liberty Alliance with the HR ID-SIS

Micro-format: Interoperability with CV MicroFormat like hResume (used by LinkedIn and Ziki.com) have to be taken into account. The same 2 simple use case could be apply: People: OpenID and hResume (to ease people/user to be engage in a process, to be aprt of a community...) Organisation (business): HR-XML and Liberty Alliance to support high level of privacy and powerfullness of HR-XML specs (i.e. : for data matching with jobs, assessment of competencies...).

Regarding using ID-WSF to secure access to CV information, a work has started to look at building a new ID-SIS for this Human Resource CV, in order to use the HR-XML Europass / Europortfolio CV XSDs with the ID-SIS definition (WSDL) to work with LA ID-WSF (This work is leaded by Symlabs with participation of EIfEL and Entrouvert).

Workflows

  • Privacy and anomysation: a person may wish to hide his/her true identity either because of current position/employer and/or because of such social aberrations as ageism, racism or misogyny. This include the anonymisation of the CV itself as well as the attachments and references such as certificates, diploma supplements etc.

Additional information and related work

  • Securisation of attribute exchange across services:

Enforcing privacy is one of the key issues in the management of CVs – e.g. anonymisation. If now we want to move towards an architecture where people have full control, from a central location of their personal data and CVs, one of the issues to address is the securisation of attributes exchange across services – e.g. personal data being sent to a job board, then an employer, then to a firm for background checking.

The Chief Architect of Symlabs proposed to develop a new Liberty Alliance web service for human resources – an HR ID-SIS in LA's terms. This new service would use combine the LA privacy services with the HR-XML data model to provide a secure transport layer for personal and HR data.

Here is the first draft (thanks to Sampo):
